Bethel Music Academy

The Bethel Music Academy meets on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 5:00pm – 6:00pm.  Tuesday lessons focus on vocal instruction, and Thursday are instrumental sessions.  Adult musicians of the church have committed to mentoring those who are interested in attending the basics of various instruments according to their own talents and abilities.

The following resources are highly recommended to develop your musical gifts according to your talents and interests:

Music Academy

http://www.musicacademy.com

On online worship arts program that is subscription based, or you can order the courses on DVD for home viewing as well.  Topics cover everything from Sound Engineering, Guitars, Bass, Drums, Vocals, and many more!  Talk about combining together for a discounted tuition price.  It’s a great alternative for those who may not have the means to hire a private tutor.  Wish they had been there when I was a kid, but I use them now to help me with my piano skills.

Music Theory Book

http://cchsbands.org/2011/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Alfreds-Essentials-of-Music-Theory.pdf

If you are new music, then you might want to learn the language.  This book gives a broad overview of music theory.  We’ll be studying one unit per week.  Academy students should keep a notebook of their units with their music for musical reference.

Worship Training

http://www.worshiponline.com

This site is a great site of tutorials for learning how to sing and play various instrumental parts for specific worship songs.  It includes a store for the Mainstage 3 patches that coordinate with the keys tutorials.  They are very affordable and offer a 14 day free trial, at $10.00 a month, it’s a terrific resource.  (And, their patches are less than $5.00!)

PraiseCharts

http://www.praisecharts.com

PraiseCharts is an excellent resource for musicians.  You can preview and purchase almost any christian song.  Sometimes I have to buy them so I can practice a difficult piece, but sometimes I just need to reference the actual music sometimes to get an idea of what’s being played in a song part.  They have many free resources too!

Current Members have access to the following resources now using the login and password provided by the Music Director.

SongSelect  http://songselect.ccli.com

This is where to find your chord charts, lead sheets, and vocal parts music for most contemporary christian songs.

Planning Center http://www.planningcenteronline.com

The online companion to Music Stand and Services Apps.

MultiTracks  http://www.multitracks.com

THE place to purchase and download audio files and virtual instruments from popular christian worship bands such as Hillsong, Jesus Culture, and Saddleback, etc.  Check with Marty before you buy something, we may already own it!

This is also the online companion to Rehearsal Mix.  Just login and search for any song to hear the vocal or instrumental part isolated for study purposes.  Using this daily to practice your weekly sets creates music memory both vocally and instrumentally making actual worship services more relaxed and focused on the spirit instead of whether or not you know your part well.  Let your body remember it for you! Practice daily only takes 15 minutes to run through a weekly set, and makes a HUGE difference.
